"How to take care of your clothes at home"

do | don't

DO...
  • ..save the "care label" attached to garments you buy for drycleaners' guidance.
  • ..brush your clothes regularly and thoroughly.
  • ..have garments drycleaned regularly because, even nominal accumulation of perspiration, grease, grit and dust particles impair the attractiveness and longevity of a garment.
  • ..take stained garments to your drycleaner immediately; for successful stain removal, inform them about the staining substance. Exposure to air, heat and light sets stains, making their removal impossible.
  • ..keep perfume, hair spray, deodorant and other toiletries away from clothes. Alcohol strips colour. Allow toiletries to dry before putting on the garment.

DON'T...
  • ..iron a garment if it's stained. The heat of the iron will allow the stain to set, making its removal impossible.
  • ..hang knitted garments. Hanging pulls them out of shape and causes a sagging hemline. Knits ore best stored in drawer.. or folded over a padded hanger.
  • ..use tested/untested home stain removers. They can aggravate the condition, or may create permanent damage like colour loss. Take the garment to your drycleaner.
  • ..use nail polish remover to remove nail polish stains. You will probably damage the garments dye, or, if the garment is acetate, nail polish remover can create a hole in a fabric.
